ALPHABET OF NEGATION (2021- ongoing) is a series of paintings in which Tasnim Baghdadi explores the notion of negation through abstraction. The works can be described as sign findings based on texts. They are created in a process of ongoing visualisation on illegibility, meaning and canonisation. Using books, individual pages are cancelled with ink or markers to create isolated blank spaces. The book studies are then transferred to canvas with oil paint, acrylic, and printing ink and transformed into an alphabet.
